In trying to mount a successful web-based journal the editors needed to consider the best available platform on which to produce the Journal from all available configurations. The choice of platform is based on ease of use for the end user and the availability of the platform to run the high end demand of a multimedia Journal.

The Journal of Technology in Counseling resides at Columbus State University on the university's main web server. The server runs on a Windows NT platform and is capable of running FrontPage server extensions. It is also capable of running NetTools and NetTools applications.

As various technology platforms become more interchangeable it is the editor's hope that we may provide a wider range of platforms and a wider availability for readers. Currently the journal is best viewed using:

  • PC / Pentium based computer
  • Windows 95/98/ME/XP or 2000 operating system
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater
  • Windows Media Player 6.4 or greater for running embedded audio/video clips (Download free browser and Media Player below. Netscape browsers will not run embedded video but will run most of the elements in the Journal.)
  • Internet connection, ISDN or better (although pages can be viewed with a dialup modem, videostreaming may be slowed by current dialup modem speeds)
  • Viewed best at screen resolution 1024 X 768 or Higher
